A brilliant gift for children of all ages, our Year in Books for Children subscription is precisely tailored to each individual’s reading tastes and age. Whether you are interested in adventures or animals, fantasy or fact, our wonderful booksellers will hand-pick books just for you. 

To ensure that we offer the best possible service on this entirely bespoke subscription, the tailored Children's subscription is limited to 1000 pre-Christmas subscribers for 2025. If this is live on our website there is still space to sign up a very lucky young person, in whom we will make it our mission to encourage a lifelong love of reading.

How does it work?

Subscribers are invited to have a chat about their interests and what they like to read with a member of our bookselling team. This can happen in person at our Mayfair shop or over the phone, we also have an online consultation that they are very welcome to fill out instead. The consultation should be an experience which is fun, rewarding, stimulating and informative! Using this information, we will then choose twelve hardback books, sent throughout the year in six bi-monthly gift-wrapped parcels of two books, just for them. They will also receive special monthly bookmarks with each book, designed by Cressida Bell.

The recipient will receive a welcome pack from us to introduce them to their subscription. Including an elegant gift card, an illustrated reading tree to document their new books, and letter with next steps, we can also include a hand-written personal message on one of our Heywood Hill postcards. Do pop a message for your recipient in the notes at checkout to include this in the welcome pack.
