Publisher: Vatican Museum & Scripta Maneant
About the Book:
Heywood Hill is proud to play a supporting role in one of the publishing events of the decade. We have been selected as the exclusive London bookseller for this exceptional publication.
The Vatican Museum and the esteemed Italian art publisher Scripta Maneant have joined forces to produce an extraordinary three-volume photographic record of the Sistine Chapel. Using the latest photographic technology more than 270,000 images were shot by a team of photographers over the course of 65 nights, working while the Vatican is closed from 7pm until 2am. The results have been stitched together electronically to reveal the frescoes by Michelangelo and other masters in unprecedented colour and detail.
Only 1999 copies are being prepared. The first has been presented to His Holiness the Pope. 100 copies have been reserved in Italy. A display copy is currently available to view at Heywood Hill.
Exclusive offer: if you purchase a copy of La Cappella Sistina from Heywood Hill the publishers would be delighted to arrange a private visit to the Sistine Chapel for you outside opening hours, with an expert guide from the Vatican Museum for two people.
