About the Book:

A modern re-imagining of A Book of Hours – a beautifully illustrated book that guides both old and young through the journey of life. The artist Susan Bacon has conceived of a new Book of Hours, inspired by the centuries-old tradition of these cherished prayer books. These jewel-like volumes, never two the same, presented the laity a way to devotion – a Companion for Life. This book, with observations of the natural world, follows that historic legacy – marking one’s own time. It is not exclusively Christian, but rather suggests an awareness of the living world that we share together with the creatures who inhabit it.

About the Author:

Susan Bacon studied sculpture and drawing at the City & Guilds School of Art and at the Royal Academy, where she won the British Institution Prize for Sculpture. She teaches Drawing from Literature at the Royal Drawing School. In 2022 she published a collection of poetry and drawing, Man’s Days.
