James Rebanks, fourth generation shepherd and inveterate 'tweeter', takes us through a shepherd's year high in the ancient landscape of the Lake District. Telling the story of working lives, traditional practises and a closeness to the land that is becoming ever more rare, Rebanks's story is one of hard work, wintery toil and a desperation to preserve a way of life unchanged for centuries. Certainly a book for those who are running short of Robert Macfarlane or love the high fells of Cumbria.
